bac squash

The BAC's squash program has long been one of the finest in the Midwest and currently has bragging rights to the Midwest's largest ladder, currently at 176-men strong and 16-levels deep; providing for the area's most competitive play.  We also have a strong women's ladder with over 20 women at the BAC participating at anywhere from novice to expert levels.  Our Junior program is one of the strongest nationally, with 50 juniors participating in anywhere from casual clinics to full-time play and competing on a national stage.

We are also proud to host two major tournaments at the BAC.  The BAC is host to the DeRoy Testamentary Junior Tournament, which is a 20+ year tradition, and the Motor City Open.  The Motor City Open professional squash tournament is recognized as one of the finest squash events in the world and continues to bring the world's top players to the area to play.

The BAC also has a rich squash heritage.  Hashim Khan, known around the world as the finest squash player ever, served as squash professional at the BAC in the 1970's.  With the addition of five state-of-the-art international singles courts in 1998, the BAC is considered one of the premier squash facilities in the nation.  The Doubles Squash Court is very popular with overhead viewing for spectators.

A full-time world-ranked Squash Professional, Julian Wellings, is available to offer instruction to beginners as well as more advanced players.
