The vision of the Birmingham Athletic Club's Founder, Frederick Matthaei Jr., continues today in our mission to combine quality membership, premier athletic activities, and uncompromising member service satisfaction.
The Birmingham Athletic Club cultivates an environment that fosters healthy and ongoing social interaction between individuals and families. The club is family-focused, and throughout the year our event team develops programming and activities centered around social and athletic activities available at the club. We also host family ski-weekends and golf outings throughout the appropriate seasons to create opportunities for our members to interact socially with other clubs in the area.
We hear many prospective members say to our membership committee, "But I've never played any racquet sports before." or, "My child has never been on a swim team." This is why the BAC is such a great club. Adults and children who have never picked up a racquet, or competed on a swim team, tennis or squash ladder, find themselves "getting into it", taking lessons and enjoying a casual (or competitive) game. We offer clinics and ladders for all skill levels and all age groups. From our littlest Tiger Sharks, to our top-ranked tennis players, the club is built on courtesy and respect. You can always find an experienced player willing to hit a few rounds, or give you some encouraging words. You may even find yourself getting hooked on one of our many activities at the BAC.
Athletics are not the only thing going on at the BAC. We have several dining areas with changingseasonal menus. Whether you just want to kick back and enjoy the company at the bar, or take your time having an elegant dinner at the club, our dining experience offers flexibility of dress-code and culinary offering. We have a top-rated chef creating many new dishes and offering a staple of historic BAC favorites.
The BAC has a reputation for throwing great parties. There is always something going on at the BAC. From Friday night movie night for kids, to a complete Spook-tacular Halloween takeover of the club replete with live creepy critters and a haunted maze, you will find that the BAC will become the center of your social life. Our lobster bake and holiday ball are among our yearly anticipated events.
